Van Gogh Painting Sunflowers by Paul Gaugin (1888) An interpretation of Van Gogh's Sunflowers is already in the library. This painting by Gaugin shows Van Gogh seated at his easel with the bowl of sunflowers he used as his model. When Van Gogh saw this painting, he said, "It's me alright, but it's me gone mad." The sunflowers in this interpretation of Gaugin's painting are less heavily textured than those in the Van Gogh interpretation, to show the different painting techniques used by each of the artists.
